According to Regulation 71(1)(b) of CEPA, the Minister of Environment requires that in some cases, the production, import or use of 850 chemicals listed in 1(schedule 1 of CEPA or mixtures, products or articles containing these chemicals must be declared before January 17, 2024.The objects to be declared include: production, import or use of substances listed in Annex 1, or mixtures, products and articles containing ≥0.1% substances, and the tonnage exceeds 100kg or 1000kg in the calendar year of 2022.The items include, but are not limited to:(1) Articles for children under 14 years old;(2) Intentional contact with individual mucosa (excluding eyes);(3) Intentional release may lead to inhalation or percutaneous contact by individuals;(4) Cookware or tableware in direct contact with hot food or drink;(5) Food packaging materials, including disposable bowls, plates, cups and other tableware, as well as food cans and lids that are in direct contact with food or beverages;(6) clothing or footwear;(7) Bedclothes, sleeping bags or towels;(8) Furniture, mattresses, cushions or pillows used in family houses, in which substances are contained in foam, leather or textile fibers, yarns or fabrics;(9) Carpets, vinyl or laminated floors used in family houses, or foam mats used for floors.According to the collected information, the Canadian government will provide the basis for priority decision-making, risk assessment activities and risk management measures.Please note that the requirements for this release are mandatory. If you fail to comply or violate the regulations on time, you will face a fine. The amount of fines varies according to the seriousness of the circumstances, and the maximum amount can be up to 25,000 Canadian dollars or 500,000 Canadian dollars.
