Xenon lamp test / what is solar radiation:
The main factors causing material aging are sunlight and humidity, and sunlight is a major factor causing degradation of many materials. The type of degradation, such as physical property degradation, pulverization, cracking, peeling, fading and color change, is related to the sensitivity and spectrum of the material, and each material has different response to the spectrum. For durable materials, such as most coatings and plastics, short wave ultraviolet radiation is the main cause of polymer aging. However, for materials that are not particularly durable, long wave ultraviolet or even short wave visible light is the main factor causing damage.
The xenon lamp climate test chamber can simulate the hazards caused by sunlight, rain and dew. The xenon lamp is used to simulate the effects of sunlight, and the condensed moisture is used to simulate rain and dew. The tested materials are placed in a cycle of alternating light and moisture at a certain temperature for testing. The hazards that occur outdoors for months or even years can be reproduced in a few days or weeks. The artificial accelerated aging test data can help select new materials, Modification of existing materials and evaluation of how changes in formulation affect product durability.
